Our client is recruiting for a 1st line support engineer to join the team on their busy Service Desk reporting to the Service Desk Manager. The desk is involved in all aspects of running a global Managed Service operation for multiple clients and will expose the successful candidate to a range of technologies that they use to configure, deploy and manage their clients’ systems and services including Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams), Microsoft Azure (Azure AD, Backup, SQL, SaaS and Dynamics), Linux, VMware\Hyper-V, Veeam with many more.
They are looking for candidates that can demonstrate a good level of technical problem-solving skills & abilities and who want to progress their technical career using the latest hardware & software products and have access to the latest industry training.
Operational hours are between 8am and 6pm with the candidate rotating on a shift pattern of 8am – 5pm or 9am – 6pm. With clients operating in both Public and Private Cloud there is a 24×7 On-Call rota which the candidate will be required to participate in and will be expected to, where necessary, visit a number of data centres once probation has been passed.
Part of the main probation criteria is to complete and pass two Microsoft certifications which will be agreed with the successful candidate once hired. Once the candidate has passed their probation period, access to further training is available which will be granted where it is beneficial to both the candidate and business.
Candidate Requirements:
Candidates will need good interpersonal skills which allows for good team working and a good phone manner to successfully deal with customers over the phone throughout the troubleshooting process. The candidate would need to show the ability to work on tasks alone or as part of the team when required. Troubleshooting client issues using remote tools and over the phone is major part of the job so we are looking for someone who can think clearly under pressure if needed, therefore the experience of the candidate should include troubleshooting, vendor management and client response liaison.
Our client has a track record in developing emerging talent, helping to form their career paths so they are looking for candidate that show potential and may have some of the following skills:
• Knowledge and understanding of ticketing systems
• Knowledge of PC hardware troubleshooting
• Knowledge of working with Remote Management Tools
• Conceptual or working understanding of Microsoft 365 and Azure
• Conceptual or working understanding of networks and network equipment
• Experience of working as part of a Technical Support team
Once fully onboarded, the successful candidate will be expected to:
• Work with the current technical team to enhance existing service offerings
• Manage the monitoring and analysis tools and report any requirements
• Ensure problems and requests of assistance are kept within agreed SLA’s
• Deliver solutions into new and existing clients in both Public\Private Cloud environments
• Assist in the ongoing support and development of customer environments
